Reinstalling TomTom HOME

Windows 10 & 8

1. Uninstall TomTom HOME

   1. To completely exit TomTom HOME, do the following:
      1. Press the Windows key+D to go to the Windows Desktop screen.
      2. Locate the TomTom HOME icon in the taskbar notification area.
         Tip ; click on the little triangle to the left off the notification area to see all icons.
      3. Right-click the TomTom HOME icon
      4. Click Exit .
   2. Press the Windows key to go to the Windows Start screen.
   3. Type Uninstall .
   4. Click Uninstall TomTom HOME 2 .
      The TomTom uninstaller begins.
   5. Click Yes to confirm.
   6. Click Yes if the User Account Control asks if you want to proceed.

   Alternatively you can use Programs and Features (Windows 10) / Add or Remove Programs (Windows 8) in the Control Panel to remove TomTom HOME.

2. Remove TomTom HOME application data

   1. Press the Windows key+R to open the Windows Run dialog.
   2. Type %appdata%
   3. Click OK .
      The Windows file explorer opens in "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\".
   4. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Delete .
   5. Click on AppData in the address bar and open the folder Local .
   6. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Delete .

3. Backup saved data

   1. Press the Windows key+E to open the Windows file explorer.
   2. Click Documents under This PC (Windows 10) / Libraries (Windows 8) in the Navigation pane.
   3. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Rename .
   4. Rename the folder to TomTom Old .

4. Install TomTom HOME

Windows 7 & Vista

1. Uninstall TomTom HOME

   1. To completely exit TomTom HOME, do the following:
      1. Locate the TomTom HOME icon in the taskbar notification area.
         Tip ; click on the little triangle to the left off the notification area to see all icons.
      2. Right-click the TomTom HOME icon
      3. Click Exit .
   2. Click on the Start button and go to All Programs → TomTom → Uninstall TomTom HOME 2 .
   3. Click Yes to confirm you want to delete the software.
   4. Click Yes if the User Account Control asks if you want to proceed.
   5. TomTom HOME uninstalls.

   Alternatively you can use Add or Remove Programs in the Contol Panel to remove TomTom HOME.

2. Remove TomTom HOME application data

   1. Press the Windows key+R to open the Windows Run dialog.
   2. Type %appdata%
   3. Click OK .
      The Windows file explorer opens in "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\".
   4. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Delete .

3. Backup saved data

   2. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Rename .
   3. Rename the folder to TomTom Old .

Windows XP

1. Uninstall TomTom HOME

   1. To completely exit TomTom HOME, do the following:
      1. Locate the TomTom HOME icon in the taskbar notification area.

      2. Right-click the TomTom HOME icon
      3. Click Exit .
   2. Click on the Start button and go to All Programs → TomTom → Uninstall TomTom HOME 2 .
   3. Click Yes to confirm you want to delete the software.
   4. TomTom HOME uninstalls.

   Alternatively you can use Add or Remove Programs in the Contol Panel to remove TomTom HOME.

2. Remove TomTom HOME application data

   1. Press the Windows key+R to open the Windows Run dialog.
   2. Type %appdata%
   3. Click OK .
      The Windows file explorer opens in "C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\".
   4. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Delete .

3. Backup saved data

   1. Click on the Start button and go to My Documents .
   2. Right-click the TomTom folder and click Rename .
   3. Rename the folder to TomTom Old .

4. Install TomTom HOME

macOS (Apple)

1. Uninstall TomTom HOME

   1. Click and hold the HOME icon in the Dock, then choose Quit to close it.
   2. In the Finder menu, click Go → Applications .
   3. Drag the TomTom HOME application to your Trash.

2. Remove TomTom HOME application data

   1. In your user folder, go to Library → Application Support .
   2. Drag the TomTom HOME folder to the trash.

3. Delete Downloads folder

   1. In the Finder menu, click Go → Home .
   2. In the Finder menu, click Edit → Copy "TomTom" .
   3. Click on the Desktop and then, in the Finder menu, click Edit → Paste Item .
      This ensures that you have a backup of items you downloaded in the Download folder using TomTom HOME.
   4. In the Documents folder, open TomTom → HOME.
   5. Drag the Downloads folder to the trash or select the Downloads folder, click File → Move to Trash .
