Tom doesn’t automatically connect to my phone

Tom by TomTom is designed to automatically reconnect to your phone once it detects movement while being near your phone.

Phone settings

Double-check that your phone settings are correct and that battery saver mode is turned off to allow a stable connection.

To help your Tom device connect automatically when you get in the car and to ensure you receive real‑time alerts, set Location permission to Always. We only use your location while you’re connected to your Tom device and for live traffic updates.

Autostart

We recommend enabling the Autostart (or equivalent) function to guarantee automatic connection. The steps vary slightly depending on your phone model — here are some examples:

• Samsung
  Settings → Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits
  Disable Put unused apps to sleep for the TomTom app.

• Google Pixel
  Settings → Apps → TomTom → Mobile data usage → Background data

• Xiaomi
  Settings → Apps Permissions → Background Autostart
  Select the TomTom app from the list and enable Autostart. 

• OnePlus
  Settings → Apps → (tap the gear icon in the top-right corner) → App Auto‑Launch
  Select the TomTom app from the list and enable auto‑launch.

Battery savers

Make sure battery savers are disabled.

• Samsung

  Power saving > Disabled

• Google Pixel
  Settings → Battery → Battery Saver → Use Battery Saver → Off

• iPhone
  Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode
  Make sure Low Power Mode is disabled
