Tom by TomTom is designed to automatically reconnect to your phone once it detects movement while being near your phone.
Update
Make sure Tom and the TomTom app are up-to-date.
Phone settings
Double-check that your phone settings are correct and that battery saver mode is turned off to allow a stable connection.

To help your Tom device connect automatically when you get in the car and to ensure you receive real‑time alerts, set Location permission to Always. We only use your location while you’re connected to your Tom device and for live traffic updates.
Autostart
We recommend enabling the Autostart (or equivalent) function to guarantee automatic connection. The steps vary slightly depending on your phone model — here are some examples:

Disable Put unused apps to sleep for the TomTom app.Google Pixel
Settings → Apps → TomTom → Mobile data usage → Background dataXiaomi
Settings → Apps Permissions → Background Autostart

Make sure battery savers are disabled.
