Updating your Tom by TomTom

Updates to the firmware of Tom by TomTom are handled by the TomTom app. The app is available for Android and iOS.

Check the battery status of your Tom device before updating. If the lights at the bottom of the device flash red, the battery is almost empty. Charge Tom before starting the update.

To check for and install updates for Tom, follow these steps:

  1. Open the TomTom app on your phone and make sure Tom is connected.
  2. In the app, tap the menu button in the top left.
    If an update is available you're shown Tom Update available.
  3. Tap Update available.
  4. Tap Firmware update available.
  5. Tap Install now.
    The update is installed on your road alert assistant.

Tom is now up-to-date.
