Tom is designed to take care of itself. You can leave Tom by TomTom on in your car—it goes to sleep when your car is parked and your phone is out of range, then wakes when it detects motion—so it's ready to go when you are. If it doesn't reconnect automatically, try the steps below.
Update
Make sure Tom and the TomTom app are up to date.
Phone settings
Check your phone settings and turn off any battery saver that could limit background activity. This helps keep the connection stable.
For the best results—and to get real-time alerts—set Location permission to Always. We only use your location while you're connected to Tom and for live traffic updates.
Autostart
Turn on Autostart (or the equivalent on your phone) to help ensure Tom connects automatically. Steps can vary by model—here are some examples:
Samsung

If you've tried these steps and Tom still doesn't reconnect automatically, restart your phone and Tom, then try again.
