In rare cases, your navigation device may not start correctly or may stop responding. If this happens, try resetting your device. The only information lost on your device is the clock's time zone setting. You can find instructions for how to set the clock in the user manual for your device.
Select your type of device
Using MyDrive Connect / Wi-Fi
To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

Check that the
battery
is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on. -
Reset your device.
Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. Keep the button pressed until you hear the drums, then release it. This can take more than fifteen seconds.
Using TomTom HOME
To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

Check that the
battery
is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on. -
Remove the
SD card
If your device uses an SD card , remove it. -
Reset your device.
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 20 seconds. -
Turn your device on.
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds. -
Insert the
SD card
If your device uses an SD card , insert the SD card .
If you have a TomTom START (2009) or a START² / START Classic (2010), do the following:

Remove the Mount from the device by pressing the release button on the Mount.

Pull the back cover off the device by holding either side of the cover and pushing the device through the centre of the cover.

Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 20 seconds. The reset button is on the bottom of your device.
Built-in devices
TomTom Sony XNV-devices
To reset your navigation module, first remove it from the cradle by pressing the release button. Then press the reset button on the back of the navigation module for at least 20 seconds. Push the navigation module back into the cradle.
TomTom Mazda Navigation System NB1 LIVE / Carminat TomTom / TomTom Smart Media-System
To reset your device, switch off the car engine and then remove the memory card . Re-insert the memory card , wait 30 seconds and switch the car engine on again.

This video shows you how to reset your navigation device. The steps apply to older devices produced before 2013 using TomTom HOME. Resetting the device helps if your device stops responding, can't find a GPS signal, or if it doesn't start up correctly. Resetting your device won't remove any of your saved settings such as favorites or recent destinations, but the clocks time zone may need to be set again.
