What you need
To pair Tom by TomTom with your phone you need the TomTom app. Make sure the app is installed on your phone and up-to-date.
- Android 12 or higher — TomTom app on Google Play
- iOS 18 or higher — TomTom app in the App Store
Pair Tom from within the TomTom app — not from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Permissions for Bluetooth pairing
To connect reliably, the app needs these permissions:
- Location – always
- Nearby devices (Android)
- Notifications
- Run in background

Pairing Tom with your phone
- In the TomTom app, open the menu and tap Add Tom device.
- Tap Pair device.
- Press and hold the small top button until the lights turn on.
- Tap Set Up to let allow the app to access Tom. You'll see a green light when Tom is connected.
- Tap Done.
Note: Tom goes to sleep after 60 seconds of inactivity. To wake up Tom briefly press the top button.
If pairing doesn't work
Try removing and pairing again:
- In the TomTom app, tap Tom.
- Scroll down, then tap Remove device.
- Tap Remove to confirm.
- Start the pairing steps above again.

Power on The first time you use Tom, hold the small top button for three seconds to power on Tom. A white light appears confirming Tom is powered on. |
