Get started with Tom

Download and install the TomTom app
Tap or scan the QR code to access the TomTom app, available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Pairing Tom with the TomTom app requires:
- Android 12 or higher
- iOS 18 or higher

Pair your Tom to the TomTom app
Note: It's important that you pair with Tom from within the TomTom app, not from your phone's settings.
To pair Tom with your phone, follow these steps:
- To power on Tom, press and hold the top button until the lights turn on.
- From the TomTom app menu, tap Add Tom device.
- Tap Pair device.
- Tap Allow so the TomTom app can access your Tom.
A green light signals that Tom is connected to your phone. - Tap Get started.

Charge your device
Your device has a one-month battery life under normal conditions. Use the USB-C cable (included) to charge your device. The USB adaptor allows you to charge your device using a USB-A plug.

Mount Tom in the car
Tom can be mounted on any dashboard in any car, but do consider the following:
- The 3M adhesive on the mount is single-use and cannot be reused once applied.
- Properly clean the surface to remove all dust and dirt.
- The mount must be firmly attached to the dashboard – preferably on the flattest possible surface.
- The device should not obstruct your view of the road.
- Avoid placing the product:
- In direct sunlight
- On LCD or other screens/displays.
- On surfaces that have airbags behind the dashboard/interior covers.

Ready to hit the road?
Your Tom switches on automatically as soon as you depart. The device alerts you for various situations on the road.
But you can also help your fellow drivers by reporting speed cameras and road hazards. Here's how:
- Spotted a speed camera? Tap the centre button once.
- Road hazard on your way? Hold centre button for 1.5 seconds.
- Getting notified about a phantom camera? Tap the button at the top to dismiss the notification.

Device settings
You can adjust Tom settings in the TomTom app. Go to the Main Menu > Tom for the following settings:
Sounds & lights
- Set the volume of the beeps coming from Tom.
- Adjust the brighness of the LEDs.
- Enable or disable the heartbeat that indicates that Tom is connected.
Alert preferences
Enable or disable the following alerts:
- Cameras
- Traffic
- Road hazards
- Speeding
