Extending the battery life of your navigation device

To extend the battery life of your navigation device, there are some settings you can change.
For example, when using your device away from your car, reducing the screen brightness and volume may significantly extend battery life.

  • Screen brightness: 50%

    Settings menu > Appearance > Brightness > Move the Day brightness slider to 50% or lower

  • Volume: 30%

    Main menu > Slide the volume control to 30% or lower

  • Battery saving preferences: ON

    Settings menu > System > Battery settings > Enable Sleep automatically when disconnected from power

GO 800/1000/2000 series, GO LIVE Top Gear edition, Via series, Start 20 series, Start 60, Blue&Me TomTom 2 LIVE, Sony XNV, TomTom Connect, Mazda Navigation System NB1 (LIVE)

  • Screen brightness: 50%

    Settings > Brightness settings > Day colour brightness = 50% or lower

  • Volume: 30%

    Settings > Volume settings > Volume = 30% or lower

  • Bluetooth®: OFF

    Settings > Connections > Disable Bluetooth®

  • Battery saving preferences: ON

    Settings > Battery saving settings > Dim screen between instructions

    Change preferences > Brightness preferences > Day colour brightness = 50% or lower

  • Volume: 30%

    Change preferences > Volume preferences > Volume = 30% or lower

  • * Bluetooth®: OFF

    Change preferences > Bluetooth® preferences > Disable Bluetooth®

  • * Battery saving preferences: ON

    Change preferences > Battery saving preferences > Turn off screen between instructions

  • * FM Transmitter: OFF

    Change preferences > Speaker preferences > Select internal speaker for instructions & music

  • Light sensor: OFF

    Change preferences > Brightness preferences > Deactivate both options at the bottom

Rider (2013), Rider Pro, Urban Rider

  • Screen brightness: 50%

    Options > Brightness preferences > Day colour brightness = 50% or lower

  • Volume: 30%

    Tap the left-hand side of the status bar in the Driving View. Then lower the volume to 30% or less

  • * Battery saving preferences: ON

    Options > Battery saving preferences > Turn off screen between instructions

XL ², Start ², Start

  • Volume: 30%

    Tap the bottom left corner of the Driving View.
    Then move the slider to the left.
    Volume = 30% or lower
