Automatic Speech Recognition allows you to speak the city, street name and house number instead of entering the information via the touch screen. This requires your device to have a built-in microphone and to be using a computer voice.
The devices that can use this feature are:
- GO 950 / GO 750 / GO 550
- GO 940 / GO 740 / GO 540
- GO 930 / GO 730 / GO 630 / GO 530
- GO 920 / GO 720 / GO 520
If the speech recognition no longer works, we need to determine if the icon is greyed out or completely missing.
To check this, do the following:
- On your navigation device, in the Driving View , tap the middle of the screen.
-
In the Main Menu, tap
Navigate to...
Navigate to...
-
Tap

Here, you should see the

or

.

These icons do not display.
Sometimes the two menu options Spoken address and Spoken address (dialogue) are missing completely. This means that a file is missing from within your device. This file can be replaced by redownloading it.

These icons are greyed out.
If the icons are greyed out in the menu then it means that files required for the speech recognition to function correctly are missing. This means that the map needs to be downloaded from our servers. In order to redownload the map, the map must already be assigned to your account. Important: If you are not sure if you have a map on your account, do not continue without ensuring you have a backup of your existing map. If you have an active Map Update Service subscription, you can remove the map and redownload it. You need to redownload your map using TomTom HOME. See: Re-downloading a map (TomTom HOME) |
