Yes. You can use Tom alongside your sat nav.
Tom works with the TomTom app on your smartphone — it doesn't connect directly to a sat nav. Here's how to use them together:
- Install the TomTom app from the App Store or Google Play on your phone.
- Mount Tom on your dashboard and switch it on.
- Open the TomTom app and tap Add Tom device in the main menu to pair the device.
- Let the app run in the background.
- Navigate as usual with your sat nav and all its premium features.
While you drive, Tom will alert you to speed cameras, traffic and road hazards. The TomTom app is free and doesn't require a subscription — so you can use Tom next to any navigation device, no extra cost.
Tom is designed to take care of itself. You can leave Tom by TomTom on in your car—it goes to sleep when your car is parked and your phone is out of range, then wakes when it detects motion—so it's ready to go when you are.
