Different look and feel
Google uses Android for Cars App Library templates to ensure that all Android Auto™ apps have a similar look and feel, and screen elements that are familiar to the user. The TomTom app has been adapted to use these templates so that it can be made available via Android Auto™.
Note the following restrictions:
- Reporting speed cameras
This is on our roadmap. We acknowledge that this is an essential feature, so stay tuned. - The number of results we show for Search, Favourites and Recents is limited. This is due to Android Auto™ limitations implemented for safety reasons to avoid scrolling while driving.
- Changing settings or using deeper level menu items is not allowed.
- Map interaction is limited while driving.
GPS
The GPS of the phone is used to track your vehicle as you drive. If you experience issues with your location as you drive, try placing your phone somewhere that allows it a good view of the sky.
Setup
Make sure you complete on-boarding in TomTom app on your phone. After that you can use the app in Android Auto™.
You can set up Android Auto™ with your phone either via Bluetooth® or a wired USB connection.
