Why TomTom looks different in Android Auto
Google uses Android for Cars App Library templates so apps look consistent and are easy to use while you drive. That's why TomTom may look a little different in Android Auto than it does on your phone — the essentials you need on the road are front and center.
What you can and can't do while driving
To keep you safe, Android Auto limits some actions:
- You can't change advanced settings or browse deeper menus while driving.
- Map interaction is limited when your car is moving.
Want to adjust settings before you go? Do it in the TomTom app on your iPhone before you start driving or when you're parked.
GPS and location tips
TomTom uses your iPhone's GPS to locate you as you drive. If your location seems off, move your phone somewhere with a clear view of the sky — like on the dashboard or windshield. Avoid placing it in a bag or glovebox.
Setup
- First, open the TomTom app on your phone and complete onboarding. After that, you're ready to use it with Android Auto.
