This page applies to navigation devices that are updated using TomTom HOME.
If you are experiencing problems with your device, you can check your TomTom's internal memory and/or memory card for errors.
Select your operating system:
Windows 8/10

Connect your TomTom device to your computer and turn it on.

Press Windows logo key
+D to show the Windows desktop.

Right-click on the TomTom HOME icon in the system tray and choose exit.

Press Windows logo key
+E to open the Windows Explorer.

Right-click the removable drive for your TomTom device / memory card.

Click Properties and select the Tools tab.

Under Error checking click Check
-
Click Scan and repair drive .
Windows 7 & Vista
-
Connect your TomTom device to your computer and turn it on.
-
Right-click on the TomTom HOME icon in the system tray and choose exit.

Click the Windows Start button → Computer .
-
Right-click the removable drive for your TomTom device / memory card.

Click Properties .
-
Select the Tools tab.

Under Error checking click Check Now…
-
Check both boxes and then click Start .
Windows XP
-
Connect your TomTom device to your computer and turn it on.

Right-click on the TomTom HOME icon in the system tray and choose exit.

Click the Windows Start button → My Computer .
-
Right-click the removable drive for your TomTom device / memory card.
-
Click Properties .
-
Select the Tools tab.

Under Error checking click Check Now…
-
Check both boxes and then click Start .
macOS (Apple)

Connect your TomTom device to your computer and turn it on.
-
Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
-
Select your TomTom device / memory card in the left pane and then click Repair Disk.
