Why TomTom looks different in CarPlay
Apple uses CarPlay templates so apps look consistent and are easy to use while you drive. That's why TomTom may look a little different in CarPlay than it does on your phone — the essentials you need on the road are front and center.
What you can and can't do while driving
To keep you safe, CarPlay limits some actions:
- You can't change advanced settings or browse deeper menus while driving.
- Map interaction is limited when your car is moving.
Want to adjust settings before you go? Do it in the TomTom app on your iPhone before you start driving or when you're parked.
GPS and location tips
TomTom uses your iPhone's GPS to locate you as you drive. If your location seems off, move your phone somewhere with a clear view of the sky — like on the dashboard or windshield. Avoid placing it in a bag or glovebox.
Find TomTom in CarPlay
On your car's display, swipe to the next page of apps on the CarPlay home screen to find TomTom.
Set up
- First, open the TomTom app on your iPhone and complete onboarding. After that, you're ready to use it with CarPlay.
- You can connect CarPlay over Bluetooth or with a USB cable.
